A river flow monitor tool to alert for extreme low river flow and zero flow using remote sensing. The Alerts allow for timely action to prevent or reduce the period of Zero flow in most of the Ruaha National Park. Zero-flow can have negative impact on domestic water supply, nature, in particular wildlife and economic activies and should be mitigated through negotiations between the water users. For Ruaha River (Tanzania) the Monitor will be active from April with the prediction of the first Zero Flow Event until the occurrence of the Rains.
IMERG V07 Data Available for prediction zero flow 2024 The IMERG version 6 for monthly rain data for the upper reaches of the Ruaha River which proved to correlate well with the occurrence of zero flow at Mtera, stopped being produced in September 2021.
